"Hiking" Question
You leave your campsite and go due North. After 2 miles, you turn and head due West for 5 miles. Then, you turn and hike due North another 3 miles. And, then you turn and go due West another 7 miles.
How far are you from the campsite?
And, Steven F. (N. California) offers an amusing alternative solution (proving that it is useful to think "out of the box"; or, in this case, think "out of the triangle"!)
